Appeared without species, earliest addition of species not researched; type possibly designated first by Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1889:105 [ref. 12497], but the type of Erythrinus of authors was first designated by Bory de Saint-Vincent, v. 6, 1824:293 [ref. 3853] and may suffice (see Whitley 1935:137 [ref. 6396]).
