Paramonacanthus Bleeker [P.] 1865:Pls. 225, 227 [ref. 416]. Masc. Monacanthus curtorhynchos Bleeker 1855. Type by subsequent designation. Apparently dates to Pls. 225 and 227 published in part 19 (1865); corresponding text (pp. 99, 130) not published until 1869 in part 21. Also in Bleeker 1866:12 [ref. 417] to which type designation dates. •Valid as Paramonacanthus Bleeker 1865 -- (Matsuura 1979:164 [ref. 7019], Tyler 1980:176 [ref. 4477], Arai 1983:199 [ref. 14249], Matsuura in Masuda et al. 1984:359 [ref. 6441], Hutchins 1986:885 [ref. 5673], Hutchins 1997:2 [ref. 23117], Matsuura & Tyler 1997:189 [ref. 23219], Lindberg et al. 1997:77 [ref. 23547], Hutchins 2001:3932 [ref. 26316], Gill & Hutchins 2002:107 [ref. 26079], Hutchins 2002:218 [ref. 26078], Allen et al. 2006:1893 [ref. 29098]). Current status: Valid as Paramonacanthus Bleeker 1865. Monacanthidae.
