Sarcocheilichthys Bleeker [P.] 1860:435 Masc. Leuciscus variegatus Temminck & Schlegel 1846. Type by subsequent monotypy. Apparently appeared first in key, without included species. One species included by Bleeker 1860:285, 426-427 [ref. 380] (as Sarcoheilichthys on p. 426). Unjustifiably emended to Sarcochilichthys by Günther 1868:175 [ref. 1990]. Evidently Acrocheilichthys in Jordan 1923:142 [ref. 2421] is a misprint.
