Paralosa (subgenus of Harengula) Bleeker [P.] 1868:300 Fem. Alausa melanura Valenciennes 1847. Type by monotypy. Appeared in list as "Harengula (Paralosa) Valenciennesi Blkr = Har. melanurus Blkr"; which is A. melanura Valenciennes 1847. •Synonym of Sardinella Valenciennes 1847 -- (Whitehead 1985:90 [ref. 5141], Kottelat 2013:62 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Sardinella Valenciennes 1847. Dorosomatidae.
