Spelled Ophiocephalus by Hamilton 1822:59 [ref. 2031] (Briggs 1961:163 [ref. 13439]) and by Günther 1861:468 [ref. 1964]. •Synonym of Channa Scopoli 1777 -- (see Teugels et al. 1986:288 [ref. 6202], Roberts 1989:169 [ref. 6439], Kottelat 2013:459 [ref. 32989], Parin et al. 2014:521 [ref. 33547], Zhang et al. 2016:209 [ref. 34477]). Current status: Synonym of Channa Scopoli 1777. Channidae.
