Spelled Oligopus by Risso 1810 [ref. 3755], but species included by Risso are in a different family; Oligopus Risso regarded as available by Cohen 1964 [ref. 5145] with different type than Oligopodus Lacepède (contrary to Art. 33.2.3); if Oligopus Risso is an unjustified emendation of Oligopodus then it is automatically a junior objective synonym of Oligopodus. Also appeared in Sonnini 1803:159 (vol. 7) [ref. 30473]. •Synonym of Pteraclis Gronow 1772 -- (Mead 1973:388 [ref. 7199]). •Synonym of Grammonus Gill 1896 -- (Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:102 [ref. 24448], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:206 [ref. 28944]).
