Regarded as not preoccupied by Doderleinia Mayer 1872 in Mollusca (a name with different spelling and apparently not emended before 1883 to Doederleinia). Yamanoue et al. 2008:407 [ref. 29891] discuss authorship of Doederleinia and of orientalis and the status of Acanthoocephalus. •Valid as Doederleinia Steindachner 1883 in Percichthyidae (Katayama in Masuda et al. 1984:124 [ref. 6441], Paxton et al. 1989:511 [ref. 12442]). •Valid as Doederleinia Steindachner 1883 in Acropomatidae -- (Johnson 1984:464 [ref. 9681], Carpenter 1999:2437 [ref. 24813], Paxton et al. 2006:976 [ref. 28994], Prokofiev 2007:423 [ref. 29273] in Doderleiniidae, Yamanoue & Matsuura 2007:404 [ref. 29357], Yamanoue et al. 2008:407 [ref. 29891], Shinohara et al. 2011:48 [ref. 31715] as Doderleinia). Current status: Valid as Doederleinia Steindachner 1883. Acropomatidae.
