Appeared as Hyostomus Gilbert & Hubbs MS in Jordan (Aug.) 1920:570 [ref. 4905] by error; name changed in proof sheets to Hyomacrurus and published in Gilbert & Hubbs 1920 as above. •Valid as Hyomacrurus Gilbert & Hubbs 1920 -- (Marshall 1973:564 [ref. 6965], Fahay & Markle 1984:274 [ref. 13653]). •Probably valid -- (see Iwamoto & Sazonov 1988:39 [ref. 6228]). •Synonym of Mataeocephalus Berg 1898 -- (Sazanov et al. 2003:293 [ref. 27176], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:205 [ref. 28944]). Current status: Synonym of Mataeocephalus Berg 1898. Macrouridae.
