Not preoccupied by Bostrichus in insects. Genus description also appeared in Sonnini 1803:159 (vol. 8) [ref. 30473]. Bostrichthys Duméril 1806, Psilus Fischer 1813, and Ictiopogon Rafinesque 1815 are apparently unneeded replacements.
