Originally spelled Coryphenoïdes on p. 219 and Coryphænoïdes on p. 220. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Coryphaenoides Gunnerus 1765. Replaced by Branchiostegus Rafinesque 1815. Also appeared in Sonnini 1803:262 (vol. 8) [ref. 30473] as Coryphænoïdes. •Synonym of Branchiostegus Rafinesque 1815 -- (Dooley 1978:31 [ref. 5499], Dooley & Kailola 1988:250 [ref. 7299]). 1°Homonym.
