Proposed for Xenocara cirrhosum and its allies; X. brevispinnis also described, but whether Regan placed it in the subgenus Thysanocara is unclear from text. •Objective synonym of Ancistrus Kner 1854 -- (Isbrücker 1980:66 [ref. 2303], Isbrücker 2002:30 [ref. 27178], Fisch-Muller in Reis et al. 2003:373 [ref. 27061], Armbruster 2004:53, 59 [ref. 27644], Ferraris 2007:219 [ref. 29155]).
