Risso 1810 placed Giorna's "Caelorinque" in Lepidoleprus and validly named the species [Giorna's species "La Caelorinque-La-Ville" was not latinized and is unavailable]. Originally included species probably date to Günther 1887:125 [ref. 2013] and type designation to Fowler 1936:459 [ref. 6546]. After further examination and consultation with others, the original orthography was "Coel..." and not "Cael..."; the correct original spelling is Coelorinchus although the common name was given as L.
