Dexillichthys Whitley 1931 is an unneeded replacement, not preoccupied by Dexilla Westwood 1840 in Diptera; see also account of Synaptura. •Synonym of Synaptura Cantor 1849 based on placement of type species -- (some authors). •Valid as Dexillus Chabanaud 1930 -- (Chapleau & Keast 1988:2799 [ref. 12625], Hoese & Bray 2006:1846 [ref. 29000], Motomura et al. 2017:223 [ref. 35490]).
