Cerictius Rafinesque [C. S.] 1810:12 Masc. Ceritius [sic] macrourus Rafinesque 1810. Type by monotypy. Apparently imaginary (Jordan 1917:78 [ref. 2407]). Cerichthys Agassiz 1846:74 [ref. 64] is an unjustified emendation. Current status: Unknown.
