Strinsia Rafinesque [C. S.] 1810:12, 51 Fem. Strinsia tinca Rafinesque 1810. Type by monotypy. Species spelled tinea on p. 12 and tinca on p. 52; technical first reviser not researched. Species not same as Strinsia tinca Bonaparte 1838: fasc. 23, punt. 120, Pl. 107 (fig. 2) for which Böhlke 1984:127 [ref. 13621] lists a holotype. Type species regarded as a nomen dubium, possibly a macrourid -- (Cohen & Torchio 1963 [ref. 21052]). Current status: Uncertain. Macrouridae.
