Lycozoarces Popov [A. M.] 1935:303 Masc. Lycozoarces hubbsi Popov 1935. Type by monotypy. Appeared first in Popov 1933:151 as a nomen nudum with a new species regani, but without qualifying as a combined description, so the genus is unavailable from 1933; the species is available, however, since the genus does not have to be an available name (Article 11.9.3.1). In 1935 Lycozoarces was described as was hubbsi, and regani was mentioned as a second species in the genus. The title includes the statement, "...Lycozoarces hubbsi, Gen. N. Sp. N..."; this qualifies as a combined description (see Article 13.4) since only one new nominal species is included (although a second available species was included); under these circumstances the type is hubbsi by monotypy. •Valid as Lycozoarces Popov 1935 -- (Lindberg & Krasyukova 1975:123 [ref. 7348], Anderson 1984:578 [ref. 13634], Toyoshima in Masuda et al. 1984:305 [ref. 6441], Anderson 1994:22 [ref. 21438], Anderson & Fedorov 2004:1 [ref. 27603], Matallanas & Corbella 2012:15 [ref. 31967], Parin et al. 2014:424 [ref. 33547]). Current status: Valid as Lycozoarces Popov 1935. Zoarcidae: Lycozoarcinae.
