Type by original designation (also monotypic). •Valid as Rhynchopelates Fowler 1931 -- (Vari 1978:267 [ref. 4514] and Akazaki in Masuda et al. 1984:173 [ref. 6441] but as Rhyncopelates, Vari 2001:3306 [ref. 26126] but as Rhyncopelates, Kottelat 2013:370 [ref. 32989], Knudsen & Clements 2016:259 [ref. 34458] as Rhyncopelates, Yoshigou 2019:133 [ref. 36562]). Current status: Valid as Rhynchopelates Fowler 1931. Terapontidae.
