Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Nystactes Gloger 1827 in Aves and Nystactes Kaup 1829 in Mammalia; replaced by Nystactichthys Böhlke 1958. •In the synonymy of Heteroconger Bleeker 1868 -- (Smith 1989:484 [ref. 13285], Castle & Randall 1999:3 [ref. 24042]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Heteroconger Bleeker 1868. Congridae: Heterocongrinae.
