Should probably be placed in a separate suborder Percalatoidei and family, Lavoué et al. 2014:54 [ref. 34071] and Betancur-R. et al. 2017:29 [ref. 36217]. Placed by us in a temporary "Percalates-clade", awaiting the publication of a formal description of the family. •Synonym of Macquaria Cuvier 1830 -- (MacDonald 1978:692 [ref. 28746], Paxton et al. 1989:513 [ref. 12442] based on placement of type species). •Valid as Percalates Ramsay & Ogilby 1887 -- (Lavoué et al. 2014:54 [ref. 34071] not in Percichthyidae). Current status: Valid as Percalates Ramsay & Ogilby 1887. "Percalates-clade".
