Yarica Whitley [G. P.] 1930:12 Fem. Apogon torresiensis Castelnau 1875. Type by original designation (also monotypic). Type species given by Whitley as Apogon hyalosoma var. torresiensis; the type species is Apongon torresiensis and not hyalosoma. •Synonym of Apogon Lacepède 1801, but a valid subgenus Yarica -- (Fraser & Lachner 1985:4 [ref. 5215]). •Valid as Yarica Whitley 1930 -- (Mabuchi et al. 2014:199 [ref. 33426], Mabuchi et al. 2015:43 [ref. 34429] tribe Glossamiini, Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:70 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Yarica Whitley 1930. Apogonidae: Apogoninae.
