Type evidently first designated by Goode & Bean 1896:70 [ref. 1848] as humboldti of Risso = Myctophum punctatus Rafinesque 1810. Whitley 1953 [ref. 4718] says type is M. humboldti of Waite 1911 but not of Risso. •Synonym of Myctophum Rafinesque 1810 -- (Krefft & Bekker 1973:171 [ref. 7181], Paxton 1979:15 [ref. 6440], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:260 [ref. 28944]).
