Salanx Cuvier [G.] 1816:185 Masc. Leucosoma reevesii Gray 1831. Type apparently by subsequent designation. Usually dated to Oken (ex Cuvier) 1817:1183. Appeared first without species as "Les Salanx" in Cuvier 1816:185, but in footnote (1) is the latinized Salanx which can only refer to "Les Salanx" based on Cuvier's style. Two species included by Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1850:360 [ref. 1014]. Type possibly first designated by Jordan 1917:99. •Valid as Salanx Cuvier 1816 -- (Roberts 1984:206 [ref. 5318], Zhang 1985 [ref. 12818] with comments on type [not translated], Liang in Pan et al. 1991:50 [ref. 23876], Zhang & Qiao 1994:103 [ref. 18971], Zhang et al. 2007:335 [ref. 29562], Fu et al. 2012:855 [ref. 31691], Kottelat 2013:269 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Valid as Salanx Cuvier 1816. Salangidae.
