Text somewhat unclear, apparently additional species all referred to (or questionably referred to) cicerelus; if more than one species is included then this name is not available from Duncker & Möhr (no designation of type after 1930). •Valid as Gymnammodytes Duncker & Mohr 1935 -- (Wheeler 1973:447 [ref. 7190], Stevens et al. 1984:574 [ref. 13671], Heemstra 1986:770 [ref. 5660], Reay in Whitehead et al. 1986:947 [ref. 13676] dating to Duncker & Mohr 1939, Ida et al. 1994:258 [ref. 22075], Parin 2003:S20 [ref. 28536], Lipej & Dulčić 2010:56 [ref. 36649], Parin et al. 2014:465 [ref. 33547]). Current status: Valid as Gymnammodytes Duncker & Mohr 1935. Ammodytidae.
