Scimnus Wood [S. D.] 1837:214 Masc. Squalus borealis Scoresby 1820. Type by original designation (also monotypic). Name appeared as "Scimnus, Cuv." with one species given as "Scimnus borealis, Scor." Whitley 1955 [ref. 4724] discusses this name. •Synonym of Dalatias Rafinesque 1810 -- (Compagno 1984:63 [ref. 6474]). Unjustified Emend.. Current status: Synonym of Dalatias Rafinesque 1810. Dalatiidae.
