Glossodus Agassiz [L.] in Spix & Agassiz 1829:48 Masc. Glossodus forskalii Spix & Agassiz 1829 (= Argentina glossodonta Forsskål 1775). Type by monotypy. Based on Glossodonta Cuvier 1815, not available. The species Glossodus forskalii is an unneeded substitute for A. glossodonta. See also Kottelat 1988:78 [ref. 13380]. •Synonym of Albula Scopoli 1777 -- (Whitehead 1986:215 [ref. 5733], Kottelat 2013:35 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Albula Scopoli 1777.
