Latinization of "Diplomyste" Duméril 1856, but predated by Bleeker (1858:63 [ref. 365]) as Diplomystes; since Bleeker's Diplomystes is listed in synonymy by Günther, Diplomystax could be regarded as an unjustified emendation. •In the synonymy of Diplomystes Bleeker 1858 -- (Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:255 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:165 [ref. 29155]).
