Pseudogeophagus Hoedeman [J. J.] 1974:1041 Masc. Apistogramma ramirezi Myers & Harry 1948. Technically this is a name published in synonymy and unavailable; appeared as "This [differences from Apistogramma] was reason enough for Wickler (1963) to establish the genus Pseudogeophagus for this species." Wickler 1963 is not listed in Hoedeman's literature cited, and the genus was not treated as valid by Hoedeman.
