Apparently not an original description but a misidentification (and misspelling) of Semotilus diplemia Rafinesque 1820 [Cope cites Rafinesque as authority for name]; contrary to treatment in Gilbert 1978:41 [ref. 7042] and Gilbert 1998:71 [ref. 23395]. If Gilbert is followed, then ANSP 3054-55 (2) are syntypes and type locality is Grand R.
