Species in the genus Cottiusculus: [ 4 ] records gonez, Cottiusculus Jordan [D. S.] & Starks [E. C.] (ex Schmidt) 1904:298, Fig. 29 [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 27 (no. 1358); ref. 2528] Aniva Bay, Sakhalin Island, Russia. Lectotype: CAS-SU 7713. Paralectotypes: CAS-SU 69887 [ex CAS-SU 7713 [ex ZIN]] (4). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:127 [ref. 12291]. Appeared without distinguishing features in Schmidt 1903:518 [p. 16 of separate] [ref. 3945]. Apparently appeared first in an available way as above, then in Schmidt 1904:108, Pl. 11 [ref. 3946]. Types are specimens used by Jordan and not by Schmidt; Schmidt's specimens are ZISP 12736-37 (20, 6), 12739-43 (1, 2, 8, 2, 4). Lectotype selected by Kai & Nakabo 2009:223 [ref. 30299]. •Valid as Cottiusculus gonez Jordan & Starks 1904 [sometimes with author as Schmidt] -- (Watanabe 1960:170 [ref. 11959], Neelov 1979:162 [ref. 3152], Yabe in Masuda et al. 1984:327 [ref. 6441], Lindberg & Krasyukova 1987:238 [ref. 15964], Kim & Youn 1992:71 [ref. 22287], Cheng & Zhou 1997:436 [ref. 26385] with author as Schmidt, Sokolovskaya et al. 1998:10 [ref. 24670], Nakabo 2000:643 [ref. 25086], Nakabo 2002:643 [ref. 26001], Choi et al. 2003:262, 573 [ref. 26218], Parin et al. 2002:S72 [ref. 28300], Fedorov et al. 2003:67 [ref. 27579] as Schmidt in Jordan & Starks 1904, Kai & Nakabo 2009:222 [ref. 30299], Shinohara et al. 2014:248 [ref. 33330], Parin et al. 2014:240 [ref. 33547], Kim et al. 2020:101 [ref. 39118], Prokofiev 2020:13 [ref. 37765], Dyldin & Orlov 2022:41 [ref. 38972]). Current status: Valid as Cottiusculus nihonkaiensis Kai & Nakabo 2009. Psychrolutidae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: Sea of Japan (Korea, Japan, Russia), northern Hokkaido (Japan) and Korean Peninsula. Habitat: marine. primoricus, Cottiusculus Prokofiev [A. M.] 2020:11, Figs. 1-5 [Munis Entomology & Zoology v. 15 (no. 1); ref. 37765] Peter the Great Bay, Primorsky Krai, Sea of Japan, Russia. Holotype: IOM "RPR-3098".
