bimaculatus, Lepidogaster Gosse [P. H.] 1855-56:167 [A manual of marine zoology for the British Isles; ref. 23093] Midway between Tenby (Wales) and Ord Point. No types known. Not available. Original genus should have been spelled Lepadogaster. Lepadogaster bimaculata is a common species in Great Britian and the name was widely used in 19th century English literature. Gosse's name is considered an incorrect subsequent spelling (also lacking a description or figure). Misspelling. Gobiesocidae: Lepadogastrinae.
