Non-types: MCZ 32675 [ex AMNH] (1). •Synonym of Xenocypris tumirostris (Peters 1881), but a valid subspecies -- (Bănărescu 1970:400 [ref. 7718], Liu & He in Chen et al. 1998:221 [ref. 23878]). •Synonym of Distoechodon tumirostris Peters 1881. •Valid as Distoechodon compressus (Nichols 1925) -- (Yang 1964:131 [ref. 13500], Li 1986:482 [ref. 6154], Zhao et al. 2009:31 [ref. 30545], Zhang et al. 2016:64 [ref. 34477]). Current status: Valid as Distoechodon compressus (Nichols 1925). Xenocyprididae. Distribution: Fujian and Jiangxi provinces, China and Taiwan. Habitat: freshwater.

Holotype: KIZ 797297. Paratypes: IHASW 0002446 (10); KIZ 797295 (1), 797298 (1), 818413 (1). Type catalog: Du et al. 2013:347 [ref. 32939]. Regarded as unavailable from electronic publication in 2003 (thesis, pdf) as macrophthalmos; published in ref. 30545 in 2009 and described as a new species without mention of the 2003 thesis by Zhao [ref. 30948]. Name treated as a noun. •Valid as Distoechodon macrophthalmus Zhao, Kullander, Kullander & Zhang 2009 -- (Zhang et al. 2016:64 [ref. 34477], Zhang et al. 2019:202 [ref. 36699]). Current status: Valid as Distoechodon macrophthalmus Zhao, Kullander, Kullander & Zhang 2009. Xenocyprididae. Distribution: Upper Yangtze River basin, Yunnan Province, China. Habitat: freshwater.

Current status: Synonym of Distoechodon tumirostris Peters 1881. Xenocyprididae. Habitat: freshwater.
