Current status: Synonym of Evermannichthys metzelaari Hubbs 1923. Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Habitat: marine. metzelaari, Evermannichthys Hubbs [C. Replacement name for Evermannichthys spongicola Metzelaar 1919, secondarily preoccupied by Garmania spongicola Radcliffe 1917 when both are placed in Evermannichthys. •Valid as Evermannichthys metzelaari Hubbs 1923 -- (Gilbert & Burgess 1986:157 [ref. 5949], Cervigón 1994:166 [ref. 24488], Murdy & Hoese 2003:1793 [ref. 27111], Van Tassell 2011:153 [ref. 31732], Parenti 2021:269 [ref. 38603], Page et al. 2023:122 [ref. 40505]).
