Type catalog: Hardy 1990:8 [ref. 18942]. Diagnosis on p. 56 under the name Gadum Rhacinum. Name Latinized to Gadus rhacinus in index, p. xxvii. Neotype designated by Paulin 1983:99 [ref. 5459]. Based on description in manuscript by Forster (Johann Reinhold Forster, 1729-1798, German explorer and naturalist of Cook's second voyage). L.] 1879:354, 359 [Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales v. 3 (pt 4); ref. 764] Not available; an incorrect subsequent spelling of Lotella fuliginosa Günther 1862 (from the Haslar collection [from Syndey]). Authorship was attributed to Günther on p. 354. •In the synonymy of Lotella rhacinus (Forster 1801). Misspelling. Current status: Synonym of Lotella rhacinus (Forster 1801). Moridae.
