Holotype: WAM P.32017-008. Paratypes: USNM 374164 (1), 374174 (3), 374175 (1). •Valid as Majungaichthys agalegae Schwarzhans & Møller 2011 -- (Møller et al. 2016:Appendix B [ref. 34432] in Dinematichthyidae, Fricke et al. 2018:86 [ref. 35805] as Mahajangaichthys, Anderson & Cohen 2022:269 [ref. 39707]). Current status: Valid as Majungaichthys agalegae Schwarzhans & Møller 2011. Dinematichthyidae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: Agaléga Islands (Mauritius) to northern Madagascar. Habitat: marine.

Holotype: USNM 374170. Paratypes: USNM 384196 (1). Plus tentatively assigned non-type specimens. •Valid as Majungaichthys simplex Schwarzhans & Møller 2007 -- (Schwarzhans & Møller 2011:169 [ref. 31834], Møller et al. 2016:Appendix B [ref. 34432] in Dinematichthyidae, Fricke et al. 2018:86 [ref. 35805] as Mahajangaichthys, Anderson & Cohen 2022:269 [ref. 39707]). Current status: Valid as Majungaichthys simplex Schwarzhans & Møller 2007. Dinematichthyidae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: Agaléga Islands (Mauritius) to Madagascar. Habitat: marine.
