Current status: Valid as Mazarunia charadrica López-Fernández, Taphorn & Liverpool 2012. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: South America: Mazaruni River drainage, Essequibo River basin (Guyana) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
