Current status: Valid as Nematabramis alestes (Seale & Bean 1907). Danionidae: Chedrinae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Mindanao (Philippines) endemic. Habitat: freshwater. borneensis, Nematabramis alestes Inger [R. F.] & Chin [P. K.] 1962:47 [Fieldiana Zoology v. 45; ref. 12303] Kota Belud, Kota Belud District, northern Kalimantan, Malaysia. Type catalog: Ibarra & Stewart 1987:60 [ref. 12367]. •Synonym of Nematabramis evertii Boulenger 1894, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Bănărescu 1971:106 [ref. 20618]). •Valid as Nematabramis borneensis Inger & Chin 1962 -- (Kottelat et al. 1993:38 [ref. 23448], Kottelat & Lim 1996:231 [ref. 23210], Doi 1997:8 [ref. 22832], Martin-Smith & Tan 1998:582 [ref. 23647], Kottelat 2013:126 [ref. 32989]). T.] 1924:259 [Philippine Journal of Science v. 24 (no. 3); ref. 2118] Titunod River, Kolambugan, Lanao Province, Mindanao, Philippines. Holotype (unique): BSMP (presumed destroyed). Appeared without description in Herre 1924:1568 [ref. 2120]; available as published above. •Synonym of Nematabramis alestes (Seale & Bean 1907) -- (Kottelat 2013:126 [ref. 32989]).
