Syntypes: ?ZMB 1386 (1). Type catalog: Paepke 1994:318 [ref. 21516]. Kottelat (2013) treats as Cuvier 1816 -- (Kottelat 2013:455 [ref. 32989]). Genus should have been spelled Osphronemus. Appeared first as name in synonymy of Osphronemus goramy in Lacepède 1801:117 [ref. 2710]; validly published as above which means the name in synonymy is available from Lacepède 1801. •Synonym of Osphronemus goramy Lacepède 1801 -- (Roberts 1989:177 [ref. 6439], Talwar & Jhingran 1991:1012 [ref. 20764], Roberts 1992:353 [ref. 14373], Fricke et al. 2018:366 [ref. 35805]).
