Paratypes: BSMP (1) presumed destroyed. •Synonym of Odonteleotris macrodon (Bleeker 1853) -- (Kottelat 2013:394 [ref. 32989] with question, Parenti 2021:23 [ref. 38603]). •Valid as Paloa polylepis Herre 1927 -- (Kobayashi et al. 2023:170 [ref. 40388]). Current status: Valid as Paloa polylepis Herre 1927. Butidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Panay (Philippines) endemic. IUCN (2025): Not Assessed. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.

villadolidi, Paloa Roxas [H. A.] & Ablan [G. L.] 1940:304, Pl. 3 [Philippine Journal of Science v. 73 (no. 3); ref. 13218] Dagupan, Pangasinan Province, Luzon Island, Philippines. Holotype (unique): BSM 31946 (destroyed in WWII). •Synonym of Odonteleotris macrodon (Bleeker 1853) -- (Kottelat 2013:394 [ref. 32989] with question, Parenti 2021:23 [ref. 38603]). •Valid as Paloa villadolidi Roxas & Ablan 1940 -- (Kobayashi et al. 2023:168 [ref. 40388]). Current status: Valid as Paloa villadolidi Roxas & Ablan 1940. Butidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Luzon (Philippines) and Ryukyu Islands (Japan). Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
