Holotype: CUMV 93433. Paratypes: ANSP 179153 (1); AUM 35545 (1); CUMV 93432 (1), 93434-37 (1, 1, 1, 1); MBUCV 10981 (1); MCZ 46889 (2, c&s), 50983 (4), 98431 (1 c&s); USNM 209203 (2). Plus non-type specimen. Type catalog: Ferraris et al. 2017:[10] [ref. 35236]. •Valid as Platyurosternarchus crypticus de Santana & Vari 2009 -- (Ferraris et al. 2017:[10] [ref. 35236], Taphorn et al. 2022:38 [ref. 41297]). Current status: Valid as Platyurosternarchus crypticus de Santana & Vari 2009. Apteronotidae: Apteronotinae. Distribution: South America: upper Branco River system, Amazon basin (Brazil and Guyana). Habitat: freshwater. macrostoma, Sternarchus Günther [A.] 1870:4 [Catalogue of the fishes in the British Museum v. 8; ref. 1995] Xeberos [Jeberos], Río Marañon drainage, Amazon River system, Peru. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1867.6.13.76. Type catalog: Ferraris et al. 2017:[10] [ref. 35236].
