obtusus, Otocinclus Miranda Ribeiro [A. de] 1911:95, Pl. 29 (fig. 3) [Arquivos do Museu Nacional de Rio de Janeiro v. 16; ref. 3716] Fonte Grande, seedling nursery, Pedrinhas, Ilha Camprida, 24°53'56"S, 47°47'49"W, Brazil. Neotype: MZUSP 79939. Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:290 [ref. 29155]. Spelled obtusos at heading of account and index (p. 498), and obtusus in etymology, index (p. 497), figure caption, and two additional places in text. Spelling regarded as a lapsus for obtusa by Britski & Garavello 1984:226 [ref. 5166]; technically they serve as first revisers, selecting obtusa. Lectotype selected by Miranda Ribeiro 1953:401 [ref. 12732] [but perhaps specimen not isolated]. Martins et al. report holotype is lost; they name a neotype on p. 844. •Listed -- (Isbrücker 1980:86 [ref. 2303]). •Valid as Pseudotothyris obtusa (Miranda Ribeiro 1911) -- (Britski & Garavello 1984:226 [ref. 5166], Burgess 1989:439 [ref. 12860], Isbrücker 2001:30, 32 [ref. 25653], Isbrücker 2002:28 [ref. 27178], Schaefer in Reis et al. 2003:327 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:290 [ref. 29155], Chiachio et al. 2008:610 [ref. 30127], Martins et al. 2014:822, 839 [ref. 33221] as Miranda-Ribeiro, Rosa et al. 2014:59 [ref. 33228], Roxo et al. 2017:267 [ref. 35139], Roxo et al. 2017:352 [ref. 35310], dos Reis et al. 2020:469 [ref. 38364]).
