Neotype designated by Taphorn & Thomerson 1978:395 [ref. 4337]; Provenzano et al. 1998:19 [ref. 24196] indicate Weibezahn material is at MBUCV. Habitat: freshwater. splendens, Rachovia Dahl [G.] 1958:43 [Stanford Ichthyological Bulletin v. 7 (no. 3); ref. 12064] Semi-permanent pond at Sincelejo, northern Colombia. Holotype: Retained by Dahl. Paratypes: (several hundred, plus allotype) CAS-SU 49519 (orig. 16, now 11), CAS-SU 68749 (1, c&s). Appeared first in Dahl 1958:34 [ref. 19187] if date of 18 June is correct for ref. 19187. •Synonym of Rachovia brevis (Regan 1912) -- (Taphorn & Thomerson 1978:389 [ref. 4337], Lazara 2001:265 [ref. 25711], Costa in Reis et al. 2003:533 [ref. 27061]). •Valid as Rachovia splendens Dahl 1958 -- (Berkenkamp 2020:15 [ref. 37695]).
