Type information: Pethiyagoda 1991:336 [ref. 20075]. Described as a color variety with a type specimen; we regard the name as infrasubspecific, and if it does not meet the criteria of Art. 15.2 and 45.6.3 of the Code, the name is infrasubspecific and not available. •In the synonymy of Rohanella titteya (Deraniyagala 1929). Infrasubspecific. Current status: Synonym of Rohanella titteya (Deraniyagala 1929). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae.

Holotype and paratypes: BMNH 1928.4.16.1-6 (6, including holotype), 1929.7.1.10 (1); ZSI F11044/1 (2). Type catalog: Menon & Yazdani 1968:116 [ref. 20743]. Type (holotype) was identified as at BMNH, length 26 mm, from Ambagaspitiya; specimen should be isolated as the holotype. •Valid as Puntius titteya Deraniyagala 1929 -- (Pethiyagoda 1991:120 [ref. 20075], Talwar & Jhingran 1991:293 [ref. 20764], Silva et al. 2008:62 [ref. 29719], Pethiyagoda et al. 2012:73 [ref. 32071], Mieno & Karino 2016:250 [ref. 35382], Ren et al. 2020:[5] [ref. 37805], Chan et al. 2023:137 [ref. 40365], Fricke et al. 2024:162 [ref. 41622]). •Valid as Rohanella titteya (Deraniyagala 1929) -- (Sudasinghe et al. 2023:11 [ref. 40281]). Current status: Valid as Rohanella titteya (Deraniyagala 1929). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: South Asia: western and southwestern river basins, Sri Lanka. Introduced in Hong Kong (China), and Mexico. Habitat: freshwater.
