Holotype: AMS I.47180-001. Paratypes: AMS, NMV, QM. •Valid as Tandanus bellingerensis Welsh, Jerry, Burrows & Rourke 2017. Current status: Valid as Tandanus bellingerensis Welsh, Jerry, Burrows & Rourke 2017. Plotosidae. Distribution: New South Wales, Australia. Habitat: freshwater.

bostocki, Tandanus Whitley [G. P.] 1944:260 [Australian Zoologist v. 10 (pt 3); ref. 4705] Serpentine, Western Australia. Holotype (unique): WAM P.241-001 [alt. NMV A.11773]. Type catalog: Hutchins & Smith 1991 [ref. 19335], Ferraris 2007:352 [ref. 29155], Moore et al. 2008:8 [ref. 30117]. Plotosus unicolor Castelnau 1873 (preoccupied by P. unicolor Valenciennes 1840) referred to this new species, but Whitley named a type specimen and did not provide a strict replacement name; see comparable generic examples in the "Genera of Fishes" 1990:660 -- this is contrary to the interpretation of Ferraris 2007:352 [ref. 29166] and Moore et al. 2009:8 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Tandanus bostocki Whitley 1944 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:226 [ref. 12442], Burgess 1989:180 [ref. 12860], Musyl & Keenan 1996:526 [ref. 22293], Morgan et al. 1998:9 [ref. 24611], Unmack 2001:1061 [ref. 25797], Hutchins 2001:21 [ref. 25847], Allen et al. 2002:87 [ref. 25930], Hoese & Gates 2006:365 [ref. 28997], Ferraris 2007:352 [ref. 29155], Welsh et al. 2014:140 [ref. 33336], Welsh et al. 2017:235 [ref. 35347]). Paratypes: AMS, QM, WAM. •Valid as Tandanus tropicanus Welsh, Jerry & Burrows 2014 -- (Welsh et al. 2017:235 [ref. 35347]). Current status: Valid as Tandanus tropicanus Welsh, Jerry & Burrows 2014. Plotosidae. Distribution: Northeast Queensland, Australia. Habitat: freshwater.

unicolor, Plotosus Castelnau [F. L.] 1873:141 [Proceedings of the Zoological and Acclimatisation Society of Victoria, Melbourne v. 2; ref. 758] Interior of Western Australia. Syntypes: NMV 51851 (1). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:352 [ref. 29155]. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Plotosus unicolor Valenciennes 1840, effectively replaced by Tandanus bostocki Whitley 1944. •Synonym of Tandanus bostocki Whitley 1944 -- (Hoese & Gates 2006:365 [ref. 28997], Ferraris 2007:352 [ref. 29155]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Tandanus bostocki Whitley 1944. Plotosidae. Habitat: freshwater.
