Schmidt-Ries refers to Stephanidis 1939:23, Pl. 3 which is apparently an unpublished Ph.D. thesis. Not available, as it was published in synonymy of Alburnus scoranzoides Heckel & Kner 1858. •In the synonymy of Tropidophoxinellus hellenicus (Stephanidis 1971). Current status: Synonym of Tropidophoxinellus hellenicus (Stephanidis 1971). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae.

Zool. de l'Univ. de Thessalonique, Greece. Kottelat 1997:85 [ref. 22952] dates to Stephanidis 1939:23, Pl. 3, which is apparently an unpublished thesis, Univ. of Athens. •Valid as Tropidophoxinellus hellenicus (Stephanidis 1971) -- (Kottelat 1997:85 [ref. 22952] with genus tentative, Bogutskaya et al. 2000:62 [ref. 24445], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:289 [ref. 29996], Bogutskaya & Coad 2009:171 [ref. 30270] in "Tropidophioxinellus", Perea et al. 2010:14 [ref. 31802], Barbieri et al. 2015:69 [ref. 35029]). Zool. de l'Univ. de Thessalonique, Greece. See Kottelat 1997:85 [ref. 22952] for authorship and date; predated and preoccupied by Rutilus spartiaticus Schmidt-Ries 1943. Objectively invalid. 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Tropidophoxinellus spartiaticus (Schmidt-Ries 1943). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Habitat: freshwater.

Syntypes: whereabouts unknown. Stephanidis 1939 paper referred to by Schmidt-Ries not published until 1971 (see Kottelat 1997:85 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Tropidophoxinellus spartiaticus (Schmidt-Ries 1943) -- (Kottelat 1997:85 [ref. 22952], Bogutskaya et al. 2000:62 [ref. 24445], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:290 [ref. 29996], Bogutskaya & Coad 2009:171 [ref. 30270], Perea et al. 2010:14 [ref. 31802], Barbieri et al. 2015:69 [ref. 35029]).
