Paratypes: HNUE (2, lost). •Valid as Macropodus baviensis Nguyen & Nguyen 2006. •Questionably a synonym of Macropodus opercularis (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Kottelat 2013:454 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Macropodus opercularis (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Endruweit 2024:59 [ref. 41040]). Current status: Synonym of Macropodus opercularis (Linnaeus 1758). Osphronemidae: Macropodusinae. Habitat: freshwater.
