ansorgii, Petrocephalus Boulenger [G. A.] 1903:325, Pl. 28 (fig. 2) [Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London 1902, v. 2 (pt 2); ref. 15009] Agberi, Lower Niger River Delta, southern Nigeria. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1902.10.25.1. •Synonym of Petrocephalus bane (Lacepède 1803), but a valid subspecies -- (Gosse 1984:109 [ref. 6169]). •Valid as Petrocephalus ansorgii Boulenger 1903 -- (Bigorne in Lévêque et al. 1990:173 [ref. 21589], Bigorne & Paugy 1991:7 [ref. 20122], Lévèque et al. 1991:139 [ref. 31367], Hopkins et al. 2007:245 [ref. 30019], Lavoué et al. 2010:51 [ref. 30944], Lavoué 2011:23 [ref. 31401], Kramer et al. 2012:2232 [ref. 32160]). Current status: Valid as Petrocephalus ansorgii Boulenger 1903. Mormyridae. Distribution: West-central Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
