Holotype (unique): MNHN 1908-0211. Type catalog: Bertin 1940:264 [ref. 293]. Estimated locality from Lavoué et al. 2010:19 [ref. 30944]. •Valid as Petrocephalus microphthalmus Pellegrin 1909 -- (Gosse 1984:113 [ref. 6169], Lavoué et al. 2004:520 [ref. 27871], Hopkins et al. 2007:239 [ref. 30019], Lavoué et al. 2010:19 [ref. 30944], Kramer et al. 2012:2233 [ref. 32160], Lavoué 2012:2167 [ref. 32189], Skelton 2019:230 [ref. 36564] as micropthalmus, Stiassny et al. 2021:1686 [ref. 39000], Fermon et al. 2022:127 [ref. 39448], Walsh et al. 2022:[5] [ref. 39281]). Current status: Valid as Petrocephalus microphthalmus Pellegrin 1909. Mormyridae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Gabon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola. Habitat: freshwater.
