Syntypes: (several) whereabouts unknown. The spelling ishikawae is acceptable; early workers almost certainly Latinized the name first, and then added an 'e' (Art. 31.1.1) [WNE, 12 Mar. 2012] -- we suggest using ishikawae. •Valid as Salangichthys ishikawae Wakiya & Takahasi 1913 -- (Okada 1961:359 [ref. 6363], Roberts 1984:213 [ref. 5318], Uyeno & Aizawa in Masuda et al. 1984:34 [ref. 6441], Kawanabe & Mizuno 1989:82 [ref. 25598], Zhang & Qiao 1994:101 [ref. 18971], Nakabo 2000:298 [ref. 25086], Nakabo 2002:298 [ref. 26001]). •Valid as Neosalangichthys ishikawae (Wakiya & Takahasi 1913) -- (Fu et al. 2012:854 [ref. 31691]). Current status: Valid as Neosalangichthys ishikawae (Wakiya & Takahasi 1913). Salangidae. Distribution: Western North Pacific. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
