Type catalog: Fricke 2005:29 [ref. 29864]. •Synonym of Coregonus oxyrinchus (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Lelek 1987:84 [ref. 22962] as oxyrhynchus). •Valid as Coregonus macrophthalmus Nüsslin 1882 -- (Kottelat 1997:112 [ref. 22952], Bianco & Ketmaier 2001:200 [ref. 26728], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:363 [ref. 29996], Çiçek et al. 2015:149 [ref. 35151], Selz et al. 2020:143 [ref. 37901], Çiçek et al. 2022:4 [ref. 38985], Selz & Seehausen 2023:157 [ref. 39952]). Current status: Valid as Coregonus macrophthalmus Nüsslin 1882. Salmonidae: Coregoninae. Distribution: Central Europe: upper basin of Lake Constance (Switzerland, Germany and Austria); introduced elsewhere. Habitat: freshwater.
