Holotype: USNM 12455 (not USNM 19756). Apparently not available from Hoy 1872:99 [ref. 18119] as an Argyrosomus with black fins -- not sufficient distinguishing features. We date to Milner as above with type as USNM 12455. [The USNM lists USNM 23924 from Grand Haven, Michigan as type.] •Valid as Coregonus nigripinnis (Milner 1874) -- (Lee et al. 1980:86 [ref. 22416], McAllister 1990:81 [ref. 14674], Page & Burr 1991:43 [ref. 18983], Chereshnev 1996:602 [ref. 24659], Scott & Crossman 1998:256 [ref. 24570], Lyons et al. 2000:39 [ref. 26594], Nelson et al. 2004:86 [ref. 27807], Scharpf 2006:25 [ref. 30386] with subspecies, Page & Burr 2011:388 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:86 [ref. 32708], Page et al. 2023:82 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Coregonus nigripinnis (Milner 1874). Salmonidae: Coregoninae. Distribution: Northeastern North America. Habitat: freshwater.
